HARLEM AMBASSADORS
HONORED WITH HIGH-SECURITY CHEYENNE MOUNTAIN TOUR,
FIRST IN PERFORMING FOR U.S. MILITARY
The Harlem Ambassadors have been invited to tour the high-security North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) facility at Cheyenne Mountain on April 14 while the team is in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The Cheyenne Mountain tour falls in the middle of three military base performances in Colorado Springs including Peterson Air Force Base on both April 13 and 14, and Fort Carson on April 15.
“Being invited to tour the NORAD facility is yet another great honor that the U.S. military has extended to the Harlem Ambassadors,” said team President Dale Moss. “We know that the Harlem Ambassadors are second-to-none when it comes to serving those American men and women who serve our country in the Armed Forces,” he added.
The Harlem Ambassadors have performed at over 100 different U.S. bases worldwide in all service branches. The team has entertained front-line deployed troops in Korea and the Balkans. The Ambassadors also recently performed for the Marines guarding captured Al-Qaeda terrorists at Naval Station Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
“The first game the Ambassadors ever played was against a military base team (from Mountain Home AFB, Idaho),“ said VP of Operations and coach/player Ladè Majic. She added “I am honored that the military continues to select us to entertain the women and men defending our country."
“Year in and year out, no other entertainment organization comes anywhere close to the number of shows we do for our military,” observed Moss. He also noted that while the performances at Peterson AFB (part of Air Force Space Command) are the team’s first at that base, the Ambassadors have previously performed at other Space Command facilities at Vandenberg AFB in California, Patrick AFB in Florida, and Minot AFB in North Dakota. The Ambassadors also held their 2002-2003 Pre-Season Training Camp at Los Angeles Air Force Base, another Space Command base. “We are even discussing the possibility of next season going to the Space Command location in Thule Air Base in Greenland,” said Moss.
The Harlem Ambassadors Basketball Show features high-flying slam dunks, ballhandling tricks, and comedy routines. All Harlem Ambassadors players are drug-free, college-educated, and positive in manner and appearance. As coach, Ladè Majic is the only woman directing a team of men professionals. As show player, she also leads the action on the court.
“With so many women now achieving leadership roles in the military, half of the audience can instantly identify with Majic’s role in our show,” said Moss.
