Harlem Ambassadors Announce European Tour of U.S.
Military Bases
Presented by Armed Forces Vacation Club
The Harlem Ambassadors bring their unique sports entertainment show to the European continent for the first time this August with a tour of 16 United States Military installations. The Ambassadors show features high-flying slam-dunks, dazzling ball handling and hilarious comedy routines led by Ladè Majic, Queen of Show Basketball.
Unlike some other basketball shows, the Harlem Ambassadors do not travel with a pre-selected opponent. Instead, at each facility, the Ambassadors will meet a squad of the base's finest players. "Military players are in great shape and always present a real challenge to the Ambassadors," observed President/General Manager Dale Moss. He added that meeting base teams adds an "improvisational spontaneity to the humor that you don't get playing a team that is paid to lose night after night."
The Harlem Ambassadors European tour kicks off on August 4 at RAF Lakenheath in England. Five of the first six tour dates (Lakenheath, Molesworth, Croughton, Spangdahlem and Ramstein) and part of the "Extreme Summer" program of USAFE.
The Ambassadors will also tour nine installations in the Balkans region performing games for USAEUR. These stops include Taszar, Camp McGovern, Tuzla, Camp Comanche, Camp Dobol, Sarajevo, Camp Able Sentry and two KFOR sites in Kosovo. Two games during the tour will be played at US Navy installations (Joint Maritime Facility in St. Mawgan, England and Naval Air Station Keflavik in Iceland).
This is the first of two overseas tours for the Ambassadors in 2000. They will also tour U.S. Military Basses in Korea and Japan during December. Ambassadors' on-court leader Ladè Majic noted, "We have always received a great reception at the Military bases we've toured in the States, and I'm sure we will have a great time in Europe."
The Ambassadors 2000-2001 Military Base Tour is presented by Armed Forces Vacation Club. The Ambassadors are also sponsored on the European Military Base tour by AT & T Global Military Saver Plus.
