HARLEM AMBASSADORS PREPARE FOR MOST IMPORTANT TOUR TO DATE

The world-famous Harlem Ambassadors Show Basketball Team announced a November and December Holiday Tour of United States Military Installations throughout the Pacific Rim. Ambassadors President and General Manager Dale Moss is calling this tour "the most important in the history of the touring show basketball franchise."

The Harlem Ambassadors are led on the court by Ladè Majic, known as the Queen of Show Basketball. As star performer, as well as the only woman coaching a team of male professional players, she has led the Ambassadors on tours of Europe, Asia, and the Pacific Islands. The Ambassadors Basketball Show features high-flying slam dunks, dazzling ballhandling, and hilarious comedy routines.

The Ambassadors have performed for American men and women in uniform on three continents including entertaining deployed American troops in Bosnia and Kosovo. However, this tour of bases is the first since the September 11 terrorist attack. "Our people are accustomed to bringing entertainment to our troops," Moss noted. "With the great sense of national unity being felt by Americans, we particularly are looking forward to bringing our all-American entertainment to Americans stationed overseas," he added.

The Pacific Rim Tour kicks on November 27 at Fort Lewis near Seattle, Washington. The Harlem Ambassadors will also play at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, also near Seattle on November 28. Jetting across the Pacific, the Ambassadors return to Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan for a game on December 2. Other games in Japan will be at Naval Base Sasebo, Kadena Air Base, Okinawa, and Marine Corps Camp Butler, Okinawa. The Harlem Ambassadors will then journey on to South Korea for performances at Chinhae Naval Base, Kunsan Air Base, and Osan Air Base. The tour concludes back on United States soil with three performances scheduled for Elmendorf Air Force Base/Fort Richardson (combined) near Anchorage, Alaska, the U.S. Coast Guard Station at Kodiak, Alaska and Fort Wainwright outside of Fairbanks, Alaska.

The Ambassadors 2001-2002 roster also includes guard Julius Belle from Kentucky, forward Barry Martin from Ohio, forward Terrell Binion from Illinois, forward/center Torrence Oxendine from Virginia, and guard Mike Middleton from Missouri. The team was selected following a rigorous training camp at the Defense Depot Susquehanna Pennsylvania in August.

"Our team is selected for both their quality as people and their quality as basketball performers," noted Ladè Majic. The Harlem Ambassadors players are drug-free and college-educated. The team does random drug testing to insure the credibility and validity of the "Stay in School, Stay off Drugs" message that they will be sharing with young people while on tour.

In each game on the tour, the Ambassadors will be challenged by a squad of local base players. "When we play the military, there are always some stars who rise to the challenge of playing against professional players," Ladè Majic noted. "It keeps us on our toes, but we are still undefeated," she added.
